Baby update: week 11

Yesterday, 7-22-11, we had our third doctors appointment with Dr. Cox. Everything went great! The baby's heartbeat went from 126 the month earlier to 172 today! The dr. Checked my weight and I've only gained a pound which is great at 11 weeks, well to me it's great! We didn't have an ultrasound but he checked the baby's heart beat with a Doppler. He heard it on the first try and it sounded so sweet. Hearing the heart beat is such re-assurance to a mommy!
Dr. Cox is also going to contact a maternal-fetal specialist to double check my fibrinogen levels and to see if he wants to see me. My levels have went up. On my first visit they were in the 60's and for my 6 weeks appt. they raised to 98. A normal pregnant woman is supposed to have levels at 300-500, but my hematologist, Dr.Nash and Dr. Cox both think because they are raising. That is a good sign and as of right now nothing extra needs to be done.
As of right now I am feeling pretty good. I feel my MS symptoms at night and in the afternoons. I'm taking Reglan twice a day to keep the nausea under control and it's helping A Lot, thank goodness! I haven't really had any weird cravings yet but lots of food aversions. I feel like I am starting to enjoy being pregnant a little better now that the MS is under control. I am nervous about going back to work in a week, being pregnant, and completing grad school at the same time but I know that God will get me through it!
Note to baby:
Hearing your heart beat yesterday made me feel so good! I am praying for you everyday that God will keep you safe in my tummy and that you will be a healthy little baby when you are born. I know it's still a long ways away, but I can't wait to meet you and see how beautiful you are going to be! I love you so much!

June 2011

This month has been a very exciting month for Jai and I. Today's date is June 8th and we are currently in Destin, Fl. On our family vacation. We are here with my parents, Nate and Amber, and Mattie and Jax. We are having so much fun and are sad to be going home tomorrow night. So.... Let's back up to June 2nd. It started out as an ordinary and exciting day, the day we leave for the beach! However, the beach wasn't the only excitement we received that day. On this beautiful, hot Thursday Jai Means and myself found out we were going to be PARENTS!
Like I said, the day started normal. I woke up and immediately started thinking about the billion things I needed to do before we left for the beach and in the midst of all my business, I kept having the feeling that I needed to take a pregnancy test. So without hesitation I took one. After I took the test I could see a very faint positive and a few hours later I took one more just to make sure, well, sure enough that one came back positive also!!! I was so excited and nervous at the same time. I called Jai and told him the news and he told me I needed to call the Dr. Before we leave for the beach. I didn't want to call doc. Because I thought it was too soon, but I knew what was best for our little one, so I did.
The nurse on the phone said I needed to come in that day, so I went by myself. They did another pregnancy test and it also came back positive. I got to talk to my doctor, Dr. Cox. It was only my second time seeing him so I was a little nervous with everything that had happened that day. Dr.Cox was so nice though. He is a good Christian man and I am excited to know that he will deliver our little one.
I feel so blessed and honored to have the opportunity to be pregnant! I heard a similar quote to this earlier today and had to appy it to my own life...."There aren't enough waves in this beautiful ocean to describe how excited I am for this sweet baby!" I love you little one and I can't wait to hear your precious little heart beat again!
