Blessed

I'm not sure why, but for the past two weekends now, my grandmother, also known as Mema has been on my mind.
No, actually, I take that back! I know exactly why she has been on my mind. This past Valentines day was exactly one year ago that she was in the hospital in CCU (Cardiac Care Unit) and we didn't know if she was going to make it or not.
Last Valentines day in 2009, while in CCU, we were visiting her. She seemed fine, except I noticed one tiny number that didn't seem to be right. The number on her blood pressure monitor kept going down. By the time visiting hours were over the number had went down from the 70's to around 32 in a matter of 30 minutes. Assuming that her personal nurse would know what she was doing, I didn't want to bother her to ask why this number looked so weird. When visitation was over in the CCU my family and I went into the main waiting area for family in the hospital to of course, wait for the next visitation.
We hadn't been in the waiting area for ten minutes when we heard "Code Blue CCU, Code Blue CCU" be called over the entire hospital. Honestly, I didn't think anything of it because we had literally just been in Mema's room; looking at her and talking to her; I thought it was someone else. Just to be on the safe side James, my uncle went to go check just to make sure. Within seconds he came running back saying "It's Momma, It's Momma ya ll." My heart dropped as we ran to the doors of the CCU to watch a nurse on top of my Mema giving her CPR and shocking her to come back to life.
To make a long story short, Mema, the survivor and fighter that she is, pulled through. Her recovery was long, she had to stay in the hospital for another month or so, but she made it. After she got out of the hospital she moved in with my parents and has been living there every since.

The past few weeks I can't help but remember this time. Where we prayed so hard for her to get better, and slowly but surly God answered our prayers. Now I look back on this horrible time and I can only think of how blessed our family is that we still have our precious Mema. I got to have her at my wedding and I hope that she will be here for many more exciting events in our lives. The adjustments are hard, but I know they are well worth it, and one day mom and dad will look back and say, "I'm glad we had the honor of letting Mema stay with us during her older years."

Wedding Events

Today was a great day. I attended my friend Tiffany's bridal luncheon. We had a fun time and Tiffany gave us some jewlery and a cute pink and white monogrammed bag. While I was at the bridal luncheon Jai went to Keith's bachelor party. They went to play paint ball in winder, the same place Jai played for his bachelor party. From what Jai says, he had a good time. We are blessed to have such great friends and can't wait till their wedding on March 6.

Snow Day

On Friday, February 12, we got a beautiful snow here in Georgia. Jai and I were in Flowery Branch because I was off work and I needed to get my hair done. After trying to fight the weather and go back to Athens Friday afternoon, Jai and I had to turn our car around and go back to my parents house; the roads were too slick and I was getting scared.
Fortunately, this was a good decision for us because on Saturday we woke up to about three inches of snow and we were ready to play! Jai and I, along with my mom and dad and their little dog Trixie played in the snow most of the morning. Later, Nathan, Amber, and little Mattie Grace came over also. We had a great time playing in the snow and spending time together.

Our first blog

Today Jai and I created our first blog page. We are definitely new to blogging and don't know how to use blogger properly yet, but we are getting the hang of it pretty fast. I was very hesitant to start a blog because I'm often very busy with work but when my friend Mary told me I could have pages printed, like a scrap book, I thought this would save me time and money, and I was sold. So, here we go with the blogging, I might not be able to blog everyday, but hopefully I will get down a few good memories from our first year as husband and wife in 2010.
Jai and I have been married for 2 months and 3 days. We had a beautiful Christmas wedding on December 12. I am still in awe of our wedding; the lights, decorations, music, and holy spirit were the perfect combination and setting for us to say our vows. My mom and dad did everything they could, along with my amazing wedding planner, to make my day as special as it could be and it definitely
was. I have enjoyed hearing all the nice comments from my family and friends about our wedding, that it was beautiful, but the one comment that will always stand out in my mind is from my AP at school. He told me about a week after our wedding while attending the school Christmas Party that he could really tell the Holy Spirit was showing at our wedding. All I could say was thank you, but when I thought back on that comment, that was the most honoring comment anyone could have given us. I hope that our relationship and life together will reflect the Lord and he can use us in any way possible.
Okay, so about married life! It's fabulous. People are always asking us how married life is going, and to be honest, there are no words for it. It's that great, absolutely fabulous.
I love being able to come home to my husband every night, and we never have to leave each other, or sleep in separate beds, and the best part is never spending the night away from each other. He is my dream come true, fairy tale, prince charming story that everyone always dreams of. Our relationship is going great and each day and new experience gets better and better and make us stronger as a couple.
